The 74th annual Tony Awards have come and gone, and all in all it was a pretty successful event; the fashion was bold, the live-performance aspect was carried off smoothly (Jennifer Holliday…need we say more?), and we were reminded just how exciting it is to see some of the best theatrical performances of the year honored IRL instead of virtually. If you skipped the show, though, we understand (hey, we don’t all have Paramount+)—and we’ve rounded up five of the evening’s key moments below. Slave Play, Jeremy O. Harris’s searing and genre-bending survey of race, sex, power, and trauma, was nominated for a whopping 12 Tonys but didn’t win a single one. Disappointing is an understatement, but at least the play is coming back to Broadway soon.
The first designers to book Ceretti at the start of her career were Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler for the fall 2016 season. And now she is taking us backstage of their spring 2022 show. “I’ve been excited for the Proenza show,” she says. Though Ceretti is quiet on social media, she is the life of the behind-the-scenes party. She chats with Gigi Hadid who lovingly refers to her as Vito. When Hadid asks for tips on how to walk, Ceretti advises her to “straighten your back, chest out.” Then, she sits with fellow models Jordan Daniels and Katherine McNamara, who get down and dirty talking about WikiFeet, a site that aggregates photos of celebrity feet. Turns out, Ceretti has a 90% rating on her toes. Call her a woman of many talents.
For a bit of drama and tons of coziness, the oversized turtleneck is a cold-weather staple whether you prefer a swingy, hip-grazing fit or an ultra-roomy design nearly hitting mid-thigh. Opt for solid neutrals or classic stripes when the mood is timeless and gorgeous colors when you’re feeling a bigger statement. Like the half-zip, the polo sweater is a throwback design à la the aughts, reinterpreted with modern appeal. New-season versions feature a slightly slouchy fit with a collar for easygoing polish. They come in shades of kinds, making a few great in rotation with everything from printed apparel to your favorite jeans. No sweater says “après ski-chic” quite like a Fair Isle design. Hallmarked by a mix of colorful geometric patterns, the traditional knitting technique is timeless as ever but continues to evolve through the seasons. This year, look to puffed shoulders and bright colors for optimal freshness. Though, there’s no denying the allure of classic ivory or beige designs. Vittoria Ceretti has cemented her status as one of the most in-demand models in the industry by securing campaigns with Prada, Versace, and Chanel, and gracing runway after runway. While her face is ubiquitous, she is relatively tight-lipped about her personal life. “I’m not a big social media person,” she says in a new Vogue video showcasing a day in her life during New York Fashion Week. “I love to keep my life private.” (She also reveals that she quietly got married during COVID-19.) After all, Ceretti is down to earth; she grew up in a small town outside of Milan. While she didn’t have her sights set on becoming a model, she sent in her Polaroids to a contest with Elite Models with her cousin for fun over 10 years ago. The agency bit, and the rest is history. “It was literally a joke and now I’m here,” explains Ceretti.
